Patricia “My friends call me Pat; you can call me Pat” A. Macken, 91, wife of the late John J. Macken (1989), passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 12th, at home.
Born September 30, 1934, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth J. Kannaley and the late Helen M. Halpin.
Mrs. Macken attended Vincentian Institute of Albany and after moving to Rotterdam, in 1967, worked at Ellis Hospital for 18 years as a Pre-Admission Test Coordinator retiring in 1984.
Pat was an avid bowler participating in organized leagues well into her 80’s with a 300 game to her credit. She was also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians for 20 years, eventually joining their Trinity Degree Team and in 2021 received the Spirit of St. Brigid Award.
She adored her cat ‘Precious’ and kept her mind sharp by spending countless hours doing puzzle books.
Pat is survived by her four sons, Mike and his wife Terri of Mayfield, KY, Mark of New York City, Barry and his partner Ali of Knox, and Brian and his wife Laurie of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by two daughters, Debra and her husband Charles of League City, TX and Donna of Rotterdam. In addition, she is survived by her Stepmother Katie (Prudy) Kannaley of Niverville, her 7 Grandchildren, Angel, Tara, Jessica, Daniel, Jordan, Montana and Danielle and her six Great Grandchildren, Alyssa, Brendon, Natalie, Kailey, Ava and Milo. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth of Niverville, and Brother-in-Law Billy Macken of Cocoa, FL.
In addition to her late husband John, she was predeceased by her sister June Kearsing of Silver Springs FL. and her great granddaughter Hana Macken Kedir of Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Albany NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 10:30am in Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam. Interment will follow in Schenectady Memorial Park, Giffords Church Road, Rotterdam, NY.
